Freed from the Mire

“You duped me, O Lord, and I let myself be duped” Jer. 20:7.

That scripture, those thoughts, that idea, was being seared into my mind, and deep within my being. Again, and again and again. The evil one wanted me to agree, accept and own that truth…except it wasn’t truth. It was a downright lie! Jesus warned us about the devil. “He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks in character, because he is a liar and the father of lies” Jn.8:44-45.

Renewed in Love

“Come away by yourself to a deserted place and rest a while.”
                                                                                                             Mark 6: 31

It had been a couple of years since I’d been away on an extended retreat. Out of the blue, during my prayer time, I felt the call. It was a surprise, and not something about which I was thinking.

After some discussion, my husband agreed to give it to me as an early birthday gift. I was delighted, to say the least!

As the time for the retreat approached, I wondered how God would work in my heart. I pondered which area would be labeled “under construction.”
