Allowing God to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary!

“Our perfection does not consist of doing extraordinary things but to do the ordinary well.”                                 St. Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows

According to the wisdom of St. Gabriel, perfection is within the reach of each of us.  Most of us live our vocations in the nitty gritty of everyday life . . . and it is in performing our daily tasks, for the love of God, which brings about our growth in holiness.

But it can be difficult to be consistent, day in and day out--performing work, which some would see, as mundane. But when we give it to God, He accepts it as a gift, and turns the ordinary to the extraordinary and we grown in virtue and grace.

Growing in virtue and grace is an absolute necessity to overcome ourselves and be faithful in carrying out God’s will in our lives. It helps us to keep working when we feel like quitting; to start over again when we have failed; to get right up when the alarm goes off; to say “yes” when we really don’t feel like it; to do what we know we are called to do, when we’d rather be doing something else. It enables us to practice the art of dying to self-- to become Another—Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Because of our Baptism, our true vocation is to become another Christ. Jesus lived the majority of His life much as we do-- doing very ordinary things. Holy Scripture tells us, “He has done all things well"(Mk 7 vs. 37b). Jesus was thoroughly consistent and obedient to the work His Father called Him to do, as it was revealed to Him. We are called to do no less.

Let us ask Jesus to guide us and St. Gabriel to intercede for us, as we work toward achieving this goal. We can be assured in knowing, that our good God, is so very pleased with our meager efforts, when performed as a gift from our heart.

“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God” (1 Cor 10 vs 31).

  1. It is "NO MISTAKE" that I only read this entry today! I just finished asking God and His Blessed Mother to help me do a task in my home that I have been putting off for far too long! It's not necessarily a difficult one, it's just tedious and will take forever. Thank you Holy Spirit (Sasha) for guiding you and leading me here today. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
